That is something you’ll have to ask your ob/gyn, which is why they have medical forms to fill out before you have your first appointment or your yearly appointment.

When you are through changing, are you through?
Question by Jessica M: When you are through changing, are you through?
As a child, my mother would take my older brother and sisters and I to historic landmarks and educational places. We would usually go once a month on these trips. Growing up I remembered my mother enjoyed learning and enjoyed it even more watching us learn. Yet, as we got older and mom had more babies, the once a month outings became scarce. The bonding times we had all shared slowly, but surly, were no longer. Looking back at the way my mother was is a lot different than what she is now. I suppose the quote “when you are through changing, you are through” by Bruce Barton, would apply greatly towards her.
Remembering the days when my mother was active and involved in our lives, was some of the happiest days that I can recall as a child. Waking up to the smell of pancakes and syrup, the notes I use to find in my packed lunch, and the home cooked meals mom would have on the table at precisely 6 pm, still brings a smile to my face. What happened to those days? What happened to the days when she would enforce homework time? When she would care what hour we stayed out until? It seems as though, with each child she had, the caring slowed down.
It does not make sense to me how my oldest sister, Jennifer, can go to Harvard University at 18; but my youngest brother, Kristopher-18, doesn’t even know how many states there are in our country! They both went to the same high school. They both had the same resources. They both had the same mother. Or did they?
As time went by, you can see the different types of involvement each of my siblings received from my mother. With Jennifer, mom used to help her with her homework; with me, she would tell me to do my homework; with Kristopher she wouldn’t even ask about his homework. The smell of pancakes in the morning has never reached Kristopher’s nose. Packed lunches are now school bought. Home cooked meals have become take-out. Kristopher doesn’t even know what a historic landmark is. The only educational place he knows of is school. The mother I had growing up is not the same mother Kristopher has now.
If you look at the true picture, you can see that my mother has simply just given up.
From what use to be an active person, my mother has become her own worse enemy. With her weight reaching over five hundred pounds, mom is now living with type two diabetes, has heart disease, high blood pressure, recently has had all of her teeth pulled out, and is close to having her legs amputated. She is on more medications than I can count.
The worst thing of all is that Kristopher has fallen into this lifestyle; he is three hundred-fifty pounds. He has no support to a healthy lifestyle, no one to tell him to do his homework, no one to tell him what is wrong and what is right. This year he will be graduating high school, with the education level of a fifth grader.
When my mother was through raising her first five children, she stopped on her last. She gave up on herself. Once a person has reached a point where they feel they can’t do anything about it, they just give up trying. With the way my mother is living, it seems like she is just living to die. I just hope it’s not too late for Kristopher.

This is straight from the heart. I don’t know if you were raised in a Christian home, or if you are a Christian yourself. However I do know that if you ask God for help, he will give it. Talk to your mom and pray with her. Pray FOR her, pray for Kristopher, and pray for their relationship together. Tell your mom how you feel and why. Ask her why she doesn’t take an interest in Kristopher and tell her that it isn’t fair. That you know she is a great mother, and that Kristopher deserves for her to be the same mom she was to you and your siblings. Tell her that he NEEDS her in his life. He needs her to be there for him. Just show her what you typed above, and she will know that she shouldn’t give up. She will know she has reason to live, her son. Just tell her everything.

I have to be re-tested for Gestational diabetes, but I tend to be more hypoglycemic when I’m not pregnant.?
Question by : I have to be re-tested for Gestational diabetes, but I tend to be more hypoglycemic when I’m not pregnant.?
I have to go back to the lab for the 3 hr glucose test to see if my higher level of blood sugar is because to gestational diabetes. I know that not everyone who get retested has it, but I’m wondering if its linked to my history of what I would assume (never diagnosed) is hypoglycemia: faintness, headache, tiredness, dizziness, shaking, and irritability when having not eaten or when I eat too much sugar or simple carbohydrates. I’ve always been considered underweight, or just low on the BMI chart. This is my fourth pregnancy and the other three times I was fine. This time the only difference is they told me not to fast before the test, something I had done the three previous times. Do you think there could be a link to that? Has anyone with these symptoms when they’re not pregnant ever tested high on their glucose test? Or can anyone answer if there is a link between these symptoms and how I reacted during the test.

Answer by ironbrew
Hypoglycemic is low blood glucose. You won’t have that if you’ve had too much sugar or simple carbs.
Also, when I’m hyperglycemic (too high blood glucose) I’ll have the symptoms you describe. So, I imagine you have had a high blood glucose reading and that’s why they want to test you under ‘normal’ conditions to see how you’re reacting to higher glucose levels.
Being male, I’ve not experienced pregnancy, but I have eperienced high and low blood glucose levels. As long as your doctor is on top of it, you should be fine.

Which fruits have high sugar levels? Also can drinking diet coke raise sugar levels to great extent in diabetic person?
Best answer:
Answer by Michael Fitzpatrick
ALL fruits contain sugar known as fructose which is converted to basic glucose which will greatly affect sugar levels. Things like watermelon, oranges, bananas and apples contain high levels of fructose.
Diet soda in general and Diet Coke in particular have no effect on blood sugar levels as there are no carbohydrates or even calories.

I don’t think that it will increase your chances of getting diabetes it will make it harder in the future to get pregnant but that doesn’t mean it is impossible. As far as the diabetes because it runs high in your family then I would suggest regular checks. As far as kids in the future doctors can also help with that.

Corn itself is a starch…the body converts starches into sugar and should be avoided, or at least eaten in small amounts, by diabetic patients. Eating any kind of corn will potentially increase blood sugar.
